Remembrance Day
Remembrance Day Parade Sunday 10th November 2024
The Castle Donington and District Branch of the Royal British Legion will be holding the annual Remembrance Day Parade on Sunday 10th November 2024 at the War Memorial on High Street, Castle Donington.
The Route of the parade is: Start at Castle Donington College Car Park, straight on to Mount Pleasant, continue onto Delven Lane and left onto High Street where the Service is held. The return will be down High Street, right onto Market Street, continue onto Borough Street, right on to St Anne's Lane into the St Edwards Church Hall Car Park. The parade will set off at 10:50 for the Service and the return march will be completed by 11:40.
Afterwards, a Remembrance Service is also held at The War Memorial in Hemington at approximately 12:00.

A time to stop and think. At St Edwards Church gates on Borough Street, please gather for the two minutes silence followed by the Last Post and Reveille.

The Parish Council have been out spray painting the classic poppy on the ground at key locations around the village.
Keep your eyes peeled - such a great tribute to those who have served their country!
Lamppost Poppies
Castle Donington Parish Council and the Royal British Legion have jointly displayed lamp post poppies around the centre of the village.
Collection boxes
Royal British Legion collection boxes are in various locations in the village. Why not donate or visit them & support the work of the Royal British Legion.

Can veterans walk in the parade?
Yes, if you are a veteran and would like to join the parade please arrive at the College Car Park for 10:20am.
What roads will be closed?
There will be a rolling road closure following the parade however, High Street junction with Park Lane, Delven Lane and Bondgate will be closed for the full duration of the service until the parade has left.
Will there be a band this year?
The Rolls Royce Band will be leading the procession.
