Leicestershire County Council, in partnership with Severn Trent Water, announces the closure of the A453 for essential pipeline installation following extensive planning over the past year with Severn Trent Water, National Highways, and Derbyshire County Council.

The A453 will be closed for up to six weeks, with efforts underway to complete the work sooner if possible. This closure is necessary for the installation of a major 11km pipeline between Osgathorpe and Melbourne, part of a larger infrastructure project across North West Leicestershire and South Derbyshire.

Severn Trent Water is coordinating closely with local stakeholders, including Donington Park Circuit, East Midlands Airport, emergency services, and local businesses. They have launched a local social media campaign and set up a dedicated webpage for updates: Severn Trent Water Planned Improvements.

During the closure, signed diversions and advance notifications will be in place. Weekly progress meetings will be held to address any issues promptly.
