Flood Risk

A low pressure weather system is moving its way eastward toward Leicestershire, it brings with it a likelihood of moderate rainfall and possibly snow. Beginning Thursday morning around 8am and continuing into Friday, which may bring the risk of flooding from both surface water and from small and large watercourses in the area.

The Environment Agency is working hard along with our partners to prepare for any impacts the weather may bring. Our Incident Room will be open from Thursday onwards and Field Teams are on the ground clearing screens and grids ahead of the expected weather event. Multi-agency partners are communicating to discuss resilience and response across the county in preparation.

Moderate rainfall is expected from tomorrow, with totals of 15-20mm widespread over both days. There is the possibility of heavy rainfallof 25-40mm in isolated areas over the following days. Impacts from the snow/rainfall are likely to be experienced into the weekend.
