Cemetery Bins 2023

Recently some of the smaller bins had been removed from around the cemetery, causing a few people to complain. These were removed due to a cost awareness and recycling review.

The Parish Council has reviewed its refuse collection and ability to recycle in line with its priorities to promote and embed climate and environmental awareness. Unfortunately, the crossover from the old to the new contractor didn't go as smoothly as planned.

However, the Parish Council is pleased to confirm that new contracts have been secured with BIFFA. This will mean that more of the waste created throughout the parish will be recycled, but there will be no need to have excessive numbers of bins as this recycling is done by BIFFA.

BIFFA are one of the leading companies working towards a goal of Net Zero, driving forward the plans for more plastic to be recycled and reused, and a significant energy producer from the waste that can not be recycled.

The new contracts should be transferred over by the end of the year. This will see two large 1100 litre bins being placed in the cemetery. There will be no need for lots of separate small bins to allow for recycling of the waste. Users of the cemetery can be assured that the Parish Council is putting climate and environmental awareness into its decision making processes.
