Allotments

Amongst the 'green' spaces within the village over and above those providing for sport and general recreation, there are others serving specific purposes but which are still wildlife friendly. This includes the churchyard and ruined church area and the allotments beside it.

Glenfield Parish Council owns these allotments, with the main entrance off Main Street and a pedestrian access from Glebe Close.

Allotments have become very popular over recent years and all of our allotments are taken. There is a modest rental for the allotments which come in three sizes. The small and medium sized allotments are available for the 2015-16 season, at £12.50 and £25.00 per year to residents of the village and it is not thought likely they will be increased in 2016. Rental includes the cost of the maintenance of the area, driveway, shelter, notice board and hedges and the cost of the water supply.

The Parish Council is in the process of obtaining an additional set of allotments off Mill Lane. This site will accommodate about 20 full sized allotments but some may well be sub-divided. This is still in the planning stage but it is hoped they should be ready for the 2016 growing season. Pricing of these units will mirror the existing plots. This land has been pasture land in the flood plain and as such should be very fertile and productive. People taking on a plot in the new location will be offered a 50% rebate for the first year if that plot has not previously been used.

We are now able to offer plots to non-residents but these will not be subsidised to the same extent as they are to residents

The pricing structure for the seasons April 1st 2015 – March 31st 2017 is:

Large Plot £65 (discounted to £50 for residents of the village)

Medium Plot £32.50 (discounted to £25 for residents of the village)

Small Plot £16.25 (discounted to £12.50 for residents of the village)

Allotments are rented via the Parish Office, who should be contacted if you wish to put your name on the waiting list. Alternatively you can submit your request on-line.
